Fair Use Notice
I've always been just a faceless fan to The Judy's. Sure, I attended every concert I could, bought multiple copies of each cassette and CD, and came home with every tee shirt, button and comb (yes, I even have a Judy's comb) I could lay my hands on, yet I remain unable to say that I "know" the guys in the band. Sure, I've had my brushes with them... For a very brief time I considered myself an "artist", and actually picked up a record deal with a regional record label. Some of the pre-production meetings for the recording of my "album" were held at Dan Yeaney's recording studio where Jeff Walton used to hang out while he played for the band "Punch". Jeff sat in on a few of those meetings, and we were supposed to do some pre-production together (my dream - working with one of The Judy's), but the album eventually fell through. Then there was the time that the radio station where I worked held one of those "how to get a record deal" seminars where I spotted David and sat next to him. Still, my contact with the band has been at arms length. I was never "buds" with any of the guys.

Fortunately, the guys had lots of friends in high school, and lots of those old friends visit TheJudys.Com. And, as a result, a few people have anonymously donated some really incredibly rare recordings. You'll find those recordings here, now, for the world to enjoy!

I suppose that these demo recordings were not really intended for public consumption. They're obviously home recordings because they contain lots of lyrical and musical mistakes, and some of the songs seem to be improvised as the band plays. It's really a great look into the lives of three dudes having fun with each other, making music and having a blast. You can almost hear the fun in the tapes.

Another rare recording was stumbled across almost by accident. One of the site's long-time supporters came across a project called "Ten from Texas" which contained a bunch of tunes from early 80's new-wave and punk bands. David Bean had a track on there as a solo artist, too. This version of the song "My Imagination" was a completely different recording with totally different musicians. I honestly think that this is hands down the best rendition of this song that I've heard.

In the liner notes, David mentions that this song would probably be a memoir that he'd pass down to his grandkids and say "listen to what I did when I was your age". A fine memoir it would be!
