In 1981, Houston and the surrounding areas were going nuts over The Judy's. The clubs all wanted to book them, the
rich kids all wanted them to play their frat parties, and the critics were all writing about the band's energetic and fresh
live shows. The band was about to record the most successful album of their musical career, "Washarama".
By the time that Washarama came out, most Judy's fans were already familiar with the new songs because of
the band's many successful live shows. Even to this day the songs on Washarama are The Judy's best known.
From the first 10 rows of the crowd being drenched with a refreshing splash of cold water on Guyana Punch, to
beach balls bouncing all over the auditorium on "Her Wave", The Judy's live shows were hard to forget. The band's use of
props onstage were certainly a memorable part of what a Judy's show held. Dane's banging on pots and pans in "Right Down
The Line" and David's use of a black and white television to accompany him on "TV" were all part of the band's memorable
stage persona.
Plus, the music was just plain fun!
One peculiar item of note on this album was that the project's title cut was not on the record! Luckily, we've got
tapes of the title track, Washarama, in the Bootlegs and Rarities section.
